“I just had a comedic role in my first feature ever called The Chaperone. It is WWE’s and directed by awesome Stephen Herek and it was a joy to work on. I felt confident and ready to play and say yes largely because that is how we train at La Nuit, and I like to play.”

The Found Footage Festival is a live show/screening featuring clips from odd and hilarious VHS tapes we’ve found at thrift stores across thecountry. It’s hosted in person by myself and Joe Pickett and we play over 100 shows a year across the U.S., Canada, and Europe, drawing an average of 100-300 per show. We’ve been touring for eight years and had a sold out show at Chalmette Movies last year. This year, our New Orleans appearance will be part of a weeklong festival of New York arts in NOLA sponsored by Brooklyn Brewery, so we expect to get a lot of press attention for our return. You can read more about the show in the L.A. Times and The Onion A.V. Club. We were also interviewed in the New York Times a few months ago and on Jimmy Kimmel Live in August.

Oh-a-no! Mario and Luigi have become so perpetually frustrated by their endless pursuit of the Princess that everything they see has started to look like a beautiful, sexy woman– even their most dangerous enemies! This sexy burlesque tribute is a send-up of the famous Mario Bros. video games. Join us to discover whether the world’s most adventurous plumbers will finally rescue the Princess and consummate years of amorous toil, or be seduced along the way by their alluring enemies. Don’t forget to bring a few “coins” (or dollars) for tips… If the cast collects enough coins along the way, the audience will unlock the alternate ending!!!

Freret Street in Uptown New Orleans will become, from Wednesday to Jan. 18, a capital of comedy, a hub where local and regional talent get a shot at connecting with national and international industry insiders. And they’ll be putting on a great show in the process.
It’s the fifth New Orleans Comedy Arts Festival and Showcase, founded by New Orleans comedy maven Yvonne Landry. Held at her La Nuit Comedy Theater — “The only live theater in Uptown,” Landry likes to say — the festival is a hotbed for new and established talent. This year it features headliners Neil Hamburger, Nick Vatterot and Ashley Barnhill.
“People can expect just great standup comedy,” Landry said. “These are shows where you can come, relax, enjoy and laugh your head off.”
It’s en vogue to use words like “emerging” to describe areas of New Orleans like the arts and entertainment strip that is Freret Street between Jefferson and Napoleon avenues, but it might be more accurate to say Freret has
already emerged.
“When La Nuit opened, we were all alone out here,” Landry said. “It was us and the abandoned gas station across the street. But now Dat Dog is where the gas station was, and dozens of restaurants and bars and shops are all around us within walking distance.” read the rest here

MORE ARTS / LESS MARTIAL
A one-person show
by Dylan Brody
In his currently touring, one-person story-telling show, Dylan Brody brings a comic’s wit and a writer’s mind to bear as he explores his studies as a martial artist. Carrying his experience as a bullied child into his adulthood as an artist, Mr. Brody stumbles into the martial arts as a tool to fight depression and discovers a way of life that allows him to function beyond the fight-or-flight reactions that have ruled his psyche. Ultimately, the funny and poignant stories bring his audience along on a revealing and human journey to a place where peace becomes possible, where confidence obviates conflict, where the sound of one’s own breath is all one needs in order own any moment.
This show compiles stories that focus on Mr. Brody’s martial arts training including some that are favorites from his early Stand Up! Records CDs (BE HERE NOW from Brevity and MUCH BETTER, THANK YOU from True Enough) and others that have never yet been recorded or heard. At a running length of about an hour and ten minutes, the program is filled with laughter and surprises, unexpected callbacks and a closing piece unlike anything ever seen in the realm of comedy before as Mr. Brody steps away from the safety of raucous and reassuring laughter and dares to take his entire audience into a place of silence, contemplation and meditative calm.
MORE ARTS / LESS MARTIAL is a must-see for anyone who loves the story-telling form, laughter, the martial arts, peace, humanity or any combination thereof.
Dylan Brody is a TaeKwonDo Master (4th Dan) and an instructor in Hapkido (3rd Dan) and KiGumDo (1st Dan). He has toured widely as a comic and as a teller of humorous stories. His CDs, released by Stand Up! Records are available through Amazon.com and iTunes and his material is heard regularly on Sirius/XM satellite radio, Pandora, Yahoo Streaming Radio and the CBS Interactive Radio Spectrum. He is an award-winning playwright and a thrice published author.
