Every Friday and Saturday night we have Stand-Up Open Mic, starting at 11:00 p.m.

Every Friday and Saturday night, NOLA Comedy Theater features its stand-up showcase at 11:00 p.m. You’ll see some of the best (and some not) up-and-coming comedians New Orleans has to offer. THE SHOW IS FREE and is one of the longest running stand up open mic comedy shows in New Orleans.

You do not have to have any experience to get up on stage.

No one is going to heckle you. Everyone here is introducing himself, and introducing his own material. This is an open mic format show and you’ll see some seasoned veterans as well as first time performers.

Sign up is at 10:00 pm. It is FREE for the audience and FREE for the peformers!

Our Master of Ceremonies and anchor comic is Jackie Jenkins, Jr., a great guy who is happy to talk to you about getting up on stage.

Improv Comedy in a New Orleans Theater

comedysportzComedySportz is an improv show that is game-based, like the television show Whose Line Is It Anyway? There are 23 ComedySportz theaters in the U.S.A., and NOLA Comedy Theater is the sole ComedySportz theater in Louisiana.

This is where thousands have come to see the best comedy in New Orleans, probably because we have cheap tickets and a bar next door.

Rehearsal - 24 - Version 2For 10 YEARS,

the comedians at CSz New Orleans has delivered the ComedySportz brand of competitive improvisational humor that is enjoyed all over the United States and all over the world.

Clean Comedy, Live Comedy

Performed at the NOLA Comedy Theater (“La Nuit Comedy theater”) on Freret Street (corner of Soniat), our comedians improvise a brand new game-based live comedy show every Saturday, based upon suggestions taken from the audience.

Dance OffWhat’s a ComedySportz match like?

A ComedySportz match features two teams of players competing for laughs and points, with a referee keeping things moving and calling fouls. An average of seven to twelve games are played during a match, drawn from a repetoire of over a hundred improv games. In “Shakespeare” a team will improvise a scene inspired by an audience suggestion in Shakespearian style. In “Forward/Reverse” the referee sends the scene back and forth at will, as though scanning a scene in a DVD, sending the actletes into a frenzy. Every show is different, with different players, different games, and different audiences supplying new suggestions. The fans judge the scenes and games and ultimately decide the winners and losers.

dance-off-2Whom should I bring to ComedySportz?

Unlike most other forms of performance comedy, ComedySportz is great for all ages. The audience of a typical ComedySportz match contains everyone from kids to college students to parents to grandparents. Everyone has a good time and no one gets offended, and if an actlete steps beyond the boundaries of good taste, the “brown bag foul” (a brown paper sack placed over the offending player’s head) will be called to set things straight. If you think “clean” is boring, you owe it to yourself to check us out. this style is also perfect for business groups.
